Core responsibilities

In the field of the humanities and social sciences, PT-DLR supports the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung, BMBF) in promoting national and international research and development projects on cultural matters.

The funding measures are carried out in co-operation with BMBF division 425 (Humanities, Social and Cultural Sciences, Academies, Research Museums).

The core responsibilities of the project management agency are:

• Concept development
  Creating policy documents on the state of science and technology, developing funding priorities, preparing and deciding on funding measures, consulting
• Controlling
  Professional and administrative project tracking, interim and success appraisal, financial control
• Assessment
  External evaluation of applications, assessment of funding concepts, conducting seminars
• General management
  Project coordination, branch office service, accompanying measures, public relations, organisation and moderation of major events and symposia
• EU-wide and international cooperation
  Supporting the BMBF in planning and organising international collaboration in research and education

PT-DLR is currently the National Contact Point for the 7th EU Framework Programme (FP7), which provides researchers with information on the social sciences, economics and humanities.
